SAPI Restrict Grammar

I am trying to do something simple, but not quite sure I am doing to the right thing. I am writing an application that translates the user's speech to text using the Microsoft Speech Object Library. I need to handle two modes, one is free dictation (which I believe I have working) and the other is only allowing certain strings. For example, if they are responding to a multiple choice question, I only want the recognition to accept "A" or "B" or "C". What is the best way to do this? I didn't want to confuse the speech engine by thinking "C" was "see" or "sea". Same with accepting numbers (e.g. 1, 2 or 3)..any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
